Parent & Child Dedication

Children are precious and entrusted to us by God. As parents, we have a responsibility to teach them about God, teach them to follow Jesus and lead them to moments where they encounter God themselves.

At Hope Church, we observe parent/child dedications, where parents and the church stand united in a commitment to nurturing a child's Christian upbringing. Together, we pledge to support both parents and the child on their spiritual journey with Jesus, particularly as the child grows and chooses to embrace and express a personal faith and commitment to Jesus Christ.

Drawing inspiration from biblical examples such as Hannah presenting Samuel to the Lord in 1 Samuel 1 and Mary and Joseph bringing baby Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem as narrated in Luke 2:22, we acknowledge the importance of dedicating our children to the Lord.

Deuteronomy 6:4-7 tells us: “Hear O Israel: The Lord our God is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on their children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.”
